Announcing Our Redeemer’s New Rector

The Vestry is pleased to announce that Rev. Megan Holding has accepted our call to become our next rector. Rev. Holding comes to us from Northeastern University where she has been the Episcopal Chaplain to that community since 2017. She has also served as a chaplain to Boston College and as an Assistant Rector and Seminarian at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brookline.

Rev. Holding graduated from Yale Divinity School with a Master of Divinity and received a Certificate in Anglican Studies from Berkeley Divinity School, the Episcopal seminary affiliated with Yale. Prior to entering the priesthood, she was a practicing attorney at a major Boston law firm specializing in health care law and was active as a lay leader at her sponsoring parish in downtown Boston. She grew up in Ohio, graduated from Amherst College and Georgetown University Law Center, and worked for a federal judge in Kentucky before moving to New England.

While Redeemer will be her first position as a rector, we have no doubts that she is ready for this next stage of her ministry – and that we, as a parish, are well suited to help her grow in that role and with us in faith.

Rev. Holding lives in Wellesley with her husband, Chris, and their two daughters.

Rev. Holding’s first Sunday with us will be December 10th.  In the meantime, we ask that you join us in celebrating the ministry of Rev. Ginger to whom we are deeply indebted for her outstanding efforts guiding us through this transition.  Expect to hear more from our Transition Committee as we plan her farewell.

Your Wardens,
Murray and Sarah

A Message from the Rev. Megan Holding:

Dear Friends,

I am delighted to have been called to serve as your next rector!

When I first read Redeemer’s profile, I was struck by the openness and directness with which you described yourselves, the breadth of Redeemer’s ministries, the sense of curiosity and intentionality with which you discern, the commitment you have to living your values at the heart of your decision-making, and the centrality of youth and children in the community.

The conversations I have had with the Search Committee and Vestry in the intervening months affirmed my first impressions, and also revealed to me the kindness, respect, creativity, humor, and faithfulness so clearly at the core of this community.

I look forward to getting to know Redeemer, to discerning together where and how and to what the Spirit is calling us, and to walking together into this new phase.

In the meantime, know that I hold Redeemer and our mutual transition(s) in prayer, and that I look forward to joining you soon!

With great joy,
Megan+
